Tungsten

Occurrence, isolation & synthesis

Occurrence

Tungsten is found in the Earth's crust, 1.5 ppm (w/w), in minerals such as wolframite and scheelite [7]. The isotopes found in nature are 180W (0.135 %, stable), 182W (26.4 %, stable), 183W (14.4 %, stable), 184W (30.6 %, stable) and 186W (28.4 %, stable) [7].

In pure form, tungsten occur in a body-centered cubic lattice [7].
