What is this place?
This is a website dedicated to the properties, uses and history of the elements. It is an independent, free, Danish website where I try to collect and structure as much information about the elements as I can.

History
After 30+ years as a polymer chemist I have gathered a ton of information on various materials, some of which is info on element propertiess. It started as a project about biopolymers at work, but limitations is one thing I don't do well, so I started collecting and structuring all sorts of material data as I came across them. The info on this site started out as a part of the site Pilgaard.info, but after 10 years on that site, I found it better to move the pages to a dedicated site, so in July 2016, the site went live!

Methodology & Sourcing
To ensure maximum accuracy, the data on this site is sourced directly from scientific source materials such as text books, peer reviewed articles, patents and trusted, scientific websites such as PubChem and International Atomic Energy Agency. The methodologies, including the coding, used for the website are the ones I use in my professional life as a scientist, to ensure traceability of the information and a website that runs smoothly and without any third party/Big Tech snooping.

Why am I wasting my time doing this?
Because it matters!

Accessible knowledge matters!

The World is filled with all sorts of religious and political nuts spewing hate and lies, and lots of information is hidden behind paywalls, making it inaccessible unless you have money. In the last few years we have seen how the powerful social medias, biased news medias, politicians, and AIs have lied, misinformed, censored and manipulated the truth to an extent that was unimaginable in 2016. Keeping knowledge from the general public is a way of maintaining power, and it works. People will do insanely stupid things and kill others to maintain some belief or power structure, even if it keeps them poor and/or miserable, because all they are being fed is a slew of lies and hate. Making knowledge available is one way of enabling people to make informed decisions and help those who want to, to move forward. It is not the only solution, or a solution on its own. Most importantly, it is not a quick fix. It is only a part of the solution, but somebody's got to provide this part, and this is a part of my contribution.

Free education here in Denmark made it possible for me to get a good education, because I used the chance offered to me. Other countries don't have that kind of options. There you have to be rich, connected or excel at sports to get an education. I would prefer if people got an education because they were willing to spend the time and effort getting it. Offering free knowledge and educational material is one way of helping out, and where I can make a difference, so that's what I do. On this site and all the other ones I've got.

Anyway, thanks for visiting the site. Hope you found some useful information.
