Yttrium

Occurrence, isolation & synthesis

Occurrence

Yttrium is found in the Earth's crust, 28.1-31 ppm (w/w), in the mineral such as xenotime, fergusonite, samarskite, yttrialite, gadolinite and other rare earth minerals [4]. The isotope found in nature is 89Y (100%, stable) [4].

In pure form, yttrium occurs in hexagonal close-packed crystal structure [4]
