Chromium

Occurrence, isolation & synthesis

Occurrence

Chromium is found in the Earth's crust, 122 ppm (w/w), in minerals such as chromite, which is the commercially important source for chromium [7]. The isotopes found in nature are 50Cr (4.31 %, stable), 52Cr (83.76 %, stable), 53Cr (9.55 %, stable) and 54Cr (2.38 %, stable) [7].

In pure form, chromium occur in a body-centered cubic lattice [7].
