Americium

In pure solid form, americium exist in the following forms:
α-form: double hexagonal close-packed crystal at < 658 °C [4]
β-form: face-centered cubic crystal from 793 to 1004 °C [4]
γ-form: no crystal form specified from > ~1050 °C [4]

Am has been isolated by reduction of either AmF₃ or AmO₂ [3]:

²⁴¹Am can be isolated by extraction of decay products from strongly neutron bombarded ²⁴¹Pu [3].




²⁴³Am can be prepared by neutron irradiation of ²⁴¹Am [3].
