Lithium

Occurrence, isolation & synthesis

Occurrence

In nature, lithium is found in the Earth's crust, 20 ppm, in minerals such as spodumene, lepidolite, petalite, amblygonite and triphylite [7]. The isotopes found in nature are 6Li (7.42 %, stable) and 7Li (92.58 %, stable) [7].

In pure solid form, lithium exist in a body-centered cubic crystal structure [7]
