The effect is not well understood, but it appears that argon mediates significant reduction of TLR2 and TLR4 receptor density and protein expression [6]. Argon has been shown to have antiapoptotic activity by inhibiting the apoptotic activation of caspase-3 [7]. The growth of Escherichia coli, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and Tetrahymena thermophila is not inhibited by Ar(g) under hydrostatic pressure, but can in fact reverse the growth inhibitory action of hydrostatic pressures [8]. |
